Evolution of belief systems has always been in focus of cognitive research. In this paper we delineate a new model describing belief systems as a network of statements considered true. Testing the model a small number of parameters enabled us to reproduce a variety of well-known mechanisms ranging from opinion changes to development of psychological problems. The self-organizing opinion structure showed a scale-free degree distribution. The novelty of our work lies in applying a convenient set of definitions allowing us to depict opinion network dynamics in a highly favorable way, which resulted in a scale-free belief network. As an additional benefit, we listed several conjectural consequences in a number of areas related to thinking and reasoning.

Thinking of S Korea as a ESL Instructor

With the job market being in the dump here in Virginia as well as the rest of the nation I am considering the possibility of teaching in SK. I do hold a BA degree and have done my share of substitute teaching in some local public schools. What I need to know if this is a job that is worth pursuing. Also with the current exchange rate being so skewed between the USD and the KRW would it be better to negotiate a contract in US currency or just have the base salary increased if they will only pay in the local currency?

How soon until the little welfare nation begins demanding the had outs we give them be in shekels or euros?

The conversion from price listings in dollars to listings in shekels should have occurred in Israel long ago. That it did not was mainly due to habit, which can be hard to change. People simply became used to certain prices being set in dollars. It was a fact of life.
Habits play an important part in maintaining stability in economic systems. Thus without a shock that results in heavy losses for at least some, habits are difficult to change. But there have been plenty of losses. This week we learned that the price Tnuva's sellers (the kibbutzim and moshavim) received for the company was NIS 330...
